BOM and Budget
Separate procurement structure from engineering definition while keeping costs understandable.
Bill of materials
Use BOM for items and quantities relevant to procurement/costing. Categories and subcategories help organise the list. BOM can reference engineering objects, but the link does not make the BOM the source of engineering properties.
- BOM quantity is owned by the BOM item.
- Engineering mass belongs to Components/Subsystems.
- BOM-to-engineering relationships are reference links rather than quantity synchronisation.
Budget
Budget tracks project costs at the financial/project level. BOM and Budget share the project cost category system so cost organisation remains consistent.
Note: The current Free plan does not impose a count limit on BOM items or Budget records, although BOM integration links are a Pro capability.
